Report: Club could be forced to sell 'special' £43m player before the end of June after links to Tottenham

It seems that a player who has often been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur may need to be sold by his current club in the near future.

Spurs were unable to capitalise on the excellent platform their win against Aston Villa had created.

And although Postecoglou has already made excellent progress transforming the club, he seems more aware than anyone of what will be needed next.

That being said, Tottenham fans will be hoping for some significant signings in the summer, players they will hope to be crucial to their success back in the Champions League.

Perhaps a new striker will be the priority signing, but there’s reason to believe Spurs will also strengthen elsewhere too.

Of course, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White is said to have been on Tottenham’s radar for a while, a player who has already proven his rich ability at the highest level.

And a new report from The Sun has suggested that Forest may soon need to sell their star.

Following Forest’s four point deduction this week owing to their breach of the Profitability and Sustainability rules, the report stated that there’s a possibility the club may need to raise more funds before the end of June this year.

Therefore, that led to the idea that Forest may need to sell a major player to avoid being in breach once again.

Morgan Gibbs-White was mentioned as the ‘obvious asset to cash in on’, a player who cost Forest £43m in the past.

And whilst that all remains pretty speculative for now, it’s clear that Gibbs-White would represent a strong signing for Spurs regardless.

Jermaine Jenas previously hailed the 24-year-old as a ‘really special talent’, a player who is incredibly versatile across attacking positions.

Perhaps Gibbs-White is best placed in the middle, a position currently occupied by James Maddison, but added competition in all of those areas would surely be welcome.

That being said, one young talent Tottenham missed out on in January has now been ranked above Lucas Bergvall.
