Report: Tottenham receive information on 'devastating' player, Postecoglou wants to sign him this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be very active in the summer transfer window, and Ange Postecoglou already has a few targets lined up.

Spurs have had a decent season so far. The North Londoners are currently fifth in the table and have a big chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

That would be a fantastic achievement for Postecoglou in his first season in charge, but the Australian will want a lot more in his second campaign.

To achieve that, Tottenham will have to strengthen multiple areas of their squad. Postecoglou has already admitted he wants to sign a new defender. Additions in midfield and attack are also expected to be on the agenda.

Tottenham receive information about Serie A star

Tottenham have signed plenty of players from Italy over the last few years thanks to Fabio Paratici.

The likes of Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Destiny Udogie, Guglielmo Vicario and Radu Dragusin have all come from the Serie A and they’ve been fantastic for Spurs.

So, it’s no surprise that Tottenham are looking at the Italian top flight again, and Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson has been heavily linked with a move to Ange Postecoglou‘s side.

Gazzetta dello Sport reveal that along with Inter Milan and Juventus, Tottenham are also interested in the Iceland international attacker.

It has been claimed that Tottenham have received information on the conditions required to seal this deal in the summer. The relationship Spurs established with Genoa during the transfer of Dragusin could help Postecoglou’s side.

Gudmundsson has been tied down to a contract until 2027 by Genoa.

‘Devastating’ Albert Gudmundsson has been compared to Mo Salah

Albert Gudmundsson has been one of Genoa’s best players this season, and it is no surprise that the likes of Tottenham, Juventus and Inter Milan are all interested in him.

The Iceland international has scored 12 goals and provided four assists for the Italian side, which is a very good record considering Genoa are 12th in the table.

Kevin Strootman, who has played with several incredible players over the years, has been really impressed with Gudmundsson, so much so that he has compared him to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

The Dutch midfielder told Il Secolo XIX in November last year: “It happened to me with Salah at Roma. He always had 4-5 chances per game and scored a maximum of one goal. We said “but why doesn’t he score more goals” and someone replied: “And if he scored more goals he was already in Madrid or Liverpool”. In the end, then, he went there, to Liverpool.”

“Jokes aside, Gudmundsson is a devastating player, at the moment we are perhaps more dependent on him because, if he is in the game and has the ball at his feet, something always happens.

“He is a phenomenal player, and also a good guy: I hope he continues to improve, he has the qualities and the right mind to still give us a lot.”
