Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee has emerged as a target for Arsenal ahead of the summer window with the Dutchman on fire under Thiago Motta – and he has praised a Gunners youngster on Instagram.
Zirkzee, 22, struggled in his first season at Bologna. Joining the Italian side in the summer of 2022, he managed just two goals and two assists in 21 games last term. But this season, his form is incredible.
Motta has got his Bologna side playing some incredible stuff, almost Marcelo Bielsa-esque. Bologna are currently sitting in fourth in the Serie A table – and Zirkzee has had a hand in 17 goals in his 30 matches.
He’s even captained Bologna – which has attracted interest. Likened to Dennis Bergkamp, Arsenal are said to be hot on the £50m star’s trail. He would be a genuinely super signing for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Meanwhile, a player already at Arsenal in the form of Mika Biereth, is starring out on loan at Austrian side Sturm Graz. Joining them in January on loan from Arsenal, he has scored an impressive eight goals in 11.

He took to Instagram after netting a brace on the weekend, two goals in a 4-0 win over Klagenfurt. The youngster has little chance of breaking in at Arsenal but is showing plenty of quality for future suitors.
It is unclear where Zirkzee and Biereth crossed paths in their early careers but clearly, they are known to eachother. It could be, come the summer, that Zirkzee joins an Arsenal side that still boast Biereth.
That is of course, if Biereth is not sold in the summer – which is expected. Zirkzee responded to the striker’s Instagram post following his brace on the weekend, simply praising Biereth by saying “him”.
