One Chelsea youngster with very limited experience with the first team has been spotted in training this week under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Pictures on the club’s official Instagram page show 20-year-old Jimi Tauriainen amongst the stars who will remain at Cobham for the next 10 days or so.

The usual Chelsea squad has been decimated as usual as the majority of players fly off to represent their respective nations over the next two weeks.

Which Chelsea players are on international duty?

For a lot of those players, it could be the last chance to make a point to their international managers ahead of this summer’s European Championship.

One player in particular who will be looking to grasp the opportunity is Cole Palmer, who added further to his goal and assist tally last time out against Leicester.

In the absence of players like the 21-year-old, those who remain in first team training are likely to be joined by some new faces.

This seems to have already been the case, and for every Thiago Silva, there is a player just entering the game to go with him.

Tauriainen spotted in training

One of those this time around is Tauriainen, who is a player rarely spotted amongst the first team.

He has a grand total of one minute played for the first team, which came in the FA Cup victory against Leeds United recently.

It has been tough on the hole for academy prospects to break into the first team this season, even as far as cup competitions are concerned.

Only really Alfie Gilchrist has been able to make regular appearances, even starting on the occasion.

While his effort levels are certainly endearing, there are a number of other players supporters would like to have seen more of.

This includes the likes of Leo Castledine, who has been somewhat of a star for the academy during this campaign.
