'I'm a huge fan': Michael Dawson says he absolutely loves 24-year-old Nottingham Forest player

Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White is the first name on the team sheet at the City Ground – and it would appear as though Michael Dawson rates him a lot.

The Reds were deducted four points on Monday as the club’s fate was determined following a PSR charge. Now, Forest move into the bottom three and are in the thick of a relegation battle.

Gibbs-White has four goals and five assists to his name this season for Forest. Dawson has taken some time to reflect on City Ground events from this weekend and he’s fond of the playmaker.

What Michael Dawson has said about Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

Well, it’s not hard to understand why supporters like Gibbs-White. He’s the type of player who gives everything every single time he steps out onto the football pitch.

The 24-year-old was signed by Forest for an initial fee of £25 million in the summer of 2022. He’s been inspired since signing for the club and is very much a key player under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Dawson believes that Forest still have enough to stay up this season – and he’s predicted that Gibbs-White is going to be one of the players to help them achieve that goal.

He told Sky Sports News: “This has been a regular thing for Forest; defending set pieces, they just haven’t been good enough. I mean, I think they’ve got enough going forward in the attacking areas, I’m a huge fan of Morgan Gibbs-White, Origi has come in and played, Wood gets a goal at the weekend, there is Elanga and Hudson Odoi too.

Forest need star man to shine brighter than ever

One criticism that has sometimes been thrown at Gibbs-White since he signed for Forest is his lack of consistency. Although he’s largely been brilliant, perhaps he does have a number of games where he’s not at it for the full 90 minutes.

With Gibbs-White, it’s never through a lack of effort. It’s just that sometimes he perhaps makes the wrong pass or tries a more difficult through ball when easier options are available.

It’s not really a surprise that Dawson has praised Gibbs-White for his Forest efforts, however. As a former player, he will recognise that having such an attacking player in their ranks can often help take the pressure away from defenders.

Now, Forest need Gibbs-White to step up more than ever before. His goal contribution haul hasn’t been bad this season but a few more between now and the end of the campaign would be absolutely brilliant.
