"That's what Putin does masterfully – he keeps everyone guessing. It is important we never shut off avenues, and we keep people guessing."

It's crucial to ensure Putin understands "we think what he is doing in Ukraine is very, very serious," he said.

"I think president Putin – and we just saw that from the sham election – is the closest to Adolf Hitler we've had in this generation."

On Feb. 26, Macron said that sending Western troops to Ukraine in the future should not be ruled out.

Several NATO countries publicly rejected the idea of sending troops to Ukraine in response to Macron's statements, including Poland, the United States, Germany, Czechia, Canada, and the UK.

We could not guarantee that our country's military would not be sent to Ukraine in the future, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said on March 3.

Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds later said it is important to have a collective decision among NATO countries on this matter.
