Tottenham Hotspur have work to do this summer.
The north London club have had an up and down season, and while there have been moments that have shown real promise, there’s still that underlying inconsistency.
New signings, as ever, can be the solution to many of these problems, and while Spurs still have plenty to play for this season, there is half an eye on the summer.
Speaking on the JD Football YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Tottenham’s summer transfer plans, and he’s named Barcelona’s Raphinha as a player Spurs could sign this summer.
Tottenham could sign Raphinha
Romano spoke about the £55m man and Tottenham’s interest.
“Look, a player they appreciate for a long time is Raphinha from Barcelona. We know the financial situation at Barcelona is not easy, so he could be one of the names. They will look at that kind of player. Another player they appreciate is Pedro Neto, but he has this issue with his injuries, so I’m not sure Liverpool, Tottenham or the other clubs following the player will be prepared to play big money for Pedro Neto this summer. That kind of player is the priority for Tottenham, I see them going for that kind of winger, a quality player to help with goals and assists,” Romano said.
Need a striker
As great a signing as someone like Raphinha would be, we can’t quite understand why this is Tottenham’s priority.
Indeed, Spurs already have a brilliant left-footed right winger in the shape of Dejan Kulusevski.
In our view, Tottenham’s priority heading into this summer needs to be to sign a new striker. They still haven’t properly replaced Harry Kane, and while Heung-Min Son has done a fine job leading the line this term, he’s often more effective out on the left side.
It will be interesting to see what sort of business Tottenham do this summer, that’s for sure.
