Every international fixture Nottingham Forest players will be involved in

Nottingham Forest won’t be playing in the Premier League for another 10 days after their points deduction – with the international break now upon us.

Forest go into the break in play on the back of a 1-1 draw with Luton in a game that should have really been all three points for the Reds.

A dozen Forest players have now left the City Ground to prepare to represent their respective countries in crucial international matches.

With that in mind, we’ve had a look at all of the international fixtures over the next week or so that will feature Forest players.

Neco Williams and Wayne Hennessey Wales fixtures

Right-back Williams is one of the most improved Forest players this season and it’s no surprise that he’s been called up.

Lewis McGugan raved about Williams after a narrow defeat to Liverpool and he’s come on leaps and bounds.

Wales are facing a make-or-break couple of weeks as they bid to qualify for Euro 2024 in the summer.

Tomorrow Wales face Finland on home soil and if they win that they will meet either Poland or Estonia – also at home next Tuesday.

Hennessey hasn’t played for Forest this season and he’s currently the fourth choice among a plethora of goalkeepers.

  • Thursday 21 March vs Finland (Euros Qualifier)
  • Tuesday 26 March vs Estonia or Poland (Euros Qualifier)

Anthony Elanga international schedule

The Swedish performer will be among a number of players hoping to impress new national team boss Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Sweden won’t be at Euro 2024 having failed to qualify and Elanga will be hoping to take his Forest form to the international stage.

The player cost the Reds £15 million from Manchester United and has registered 12 goal contributions during 2023/24.

  • Thursday 21 March vs Portugal (Friendly)
  • Monday 25 March vs Albania (Friendly)

Matt Turner and Gio Reyna USMNT fixtures

Here we see two players desperate to play football. Both Turner and Reyna are currently out of the picture and both will hope to play some football.

Turner began 2023/24 as the number-one stopper. A number of high-profile errors that saw Shay Given criticise Turner have seen him replaced by Matz Sels, however.

He is the number one on the international stage, however, and should get a couple of games under his belt in the coming weeks.

Reyna has been a very strange addition to the Forest squad and has barely played since checking in from Dortmund on loan.

Since joining the club he’s played for just 39 minutes and he too will hope to get some games under his belt for his country.

  • Thursday 21 March vs Jamaica (CONCACAF Nations League semi-final)
  • Sunday 24 March vs Panama or Mexico (CONCACAF Nations League final)

Cheikhou Kouyate and Moussa Niakhate international schedule

Two more players who would dearly welcome the chance to play some football are heading off to play for Senegal.

It was a disappointing AFCON for the pair, with the holders crashing out at the last 16 stage and Niakhate missing the decisive penalty in the shootout.

Kouyate and Niakhate are both struggling for game time at Forest and they will hope to feature for Senegal in the coming days.

  • Friday 22 March vs Gabon (Friendly)
  • Tuesday 26 March vs Benin (Friendly)

Willy Boly Ivory Coast fixtures

It doesn’t feel like five minutes since Boly returned from the Ivory Coast after winning the AFCON with the host nation.

The 33-year-old only played his first appearance since returning when Forest drew 1-1 with Luton on Saturday and his injury record is less than impressive.

Forest will likely be watching Boly’s progress with their hands over their eyes!

  • Saturday 23 March vs Benin (Friendly)
  • Tuesday 26 March vs Uruguay (Friendly)

Andrew Omobamidele international schedule

Another player who has grown at Forest in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign is central defender Omobamidele.

His form will surely earn him some game time in the coming weeks with the Republic of Ireland.

Harry Toffolo raved about Omobamidele a fortnight ago and he’s really staked a claim for a place of late.

  • Saturday 23 March vs Belgium (Friendly)
  • Tuesday 26 March vs Switzerland (Friendly)

Odysseas Vlachodimos Greece fixtures

It’s going to be a big couple of weeks for a Vlachodimos – who has now been bumped down to number three in the pecking order between the posts for Forest.

Greece can still qualify for Euro 2024 and face a couple of tough matches to make it through.

Vlachodimos will be desperate to get some games under his belt as right now he’s not even making the matchday squad for Forest.

The 29-year-old has hardly been used by the Reds this season and Vlachodimos is surely one player who will leave the City Ground this summer.

  • Thursday 21 March vs Kazhakstan (Euro Qualifier)
  • Tuesday 26 March vs Georgia or Luxembourg (Euro Qualifier)

Matz Sels international schedule

The new number one at Forest could actually find himself as the number one for Belgium, with Thibaut Courtois now injured.

Sels has proved a decent signing for the club since checking in from Strasbourg and he’s certainly been an upgrade on Turner.

Forest need to stop conceding silly goals and hopefully, Sels can stand up tall between now and the end of the season.

  • Saturday 23 March vs Republic of Ireland (Friendly)
  • Tuesday 26 March vs England (Friendly)

Rodrigo Ribeiro international schedule

Last but by no means least, Ribeiro had headed off to play for his country at under-19 level.

The striker signed on a loan-to-buy deal in the January transfer window and he’s yet to really make his mark at Forest.

Still, he is very young, extremely raw and perhaps he will get some game time between now and the end of the season.

  • Today vs Greece under-19
  • Saturday 23 March vs Serbia under-19
  • Tuesday 26 March vs Denmark under-19
