Where Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo ranks among wonderkids in 2024 NXGN list

The 2024 NXGN list is here and as expected Manchester United are represented with Kobbie Mainoo making the list with a respectable ranking.

After a tremendous breakout campaign with Manchester United, it just keeps getting better for Kobbie Mainoo.

This week alone has seen him first, boss Liverpool in the FA Cup before seeing his U21 England call-up turn into a senior call-up.

This in itself is an incredible feat for the 18-year-old and his career has undoubtedly just changed forever, and the latest incredible moment of his young career.

But now he’s been handed another honour, in being named on the 2024 NXGN list, but where has he been placed? Let’s have a look…

Kobbie Mainoo named on NXGN’s list of top 50 wonderkids worldwide

The NXGN list of the top 50 wonderkids in world football, is compiled by GOAL and they likely knew that without the English starboy that is Mainoo, this list would have zero credibility.

So in terms of the list, Carrington‘s own Kobbie Mainoo has been handed a very respectable position.

The 18-year-old has been placed seventh in the rankings, only being beaten by some of football’s – young – big hitters such as Lamine Yamal and Endrick.

But he has however beaten out big names like Manchester City’s Claudio Echeverri, Roony Bardghji and United targets Leny Yoro and Pau Cubarsi.

Mainoo’s seventh place is two higher than his teammate Alejandro Garnacho managed last season.

Manchester United must hand Kobbie Mainoo a Chelsea-esque contract

Despite signing a contract in 2023, Mainoo has already made that deal obsolete and he’s now in need of a long-term contract befitting his status as a key player.

HITC Football reported that this is the case with conversations already happening over a long-term new deal which would keep Mainoo at Old Trafford for the foreseeable.

Talks are said to be accelerating although it isn’t thought to be a pressing concern, more something that will be done eventually.

Ideally, Mainoo will be handed a contract which is long in years but maybe has a yearly rise in wage depending on performance for example.

Tying the boyhood United fan down long-term would be the best signing we can make this summer to ensure our midfield entails Mainoo for the next decade or longer.
