Report: Newcastle could make bargain move for France star who started in the World Cup final

Newcastle United are understood to be one of four teams to have an interest in a bargain deal for a midfielder who featured heavily in the last World Cup.

If there’s one thing that Newcastle’s squad is lacking at the minute it is experience and their naivety both from the players and staff has shown at times this season, though it’s to be expected.

As a possible solution, a report from Tutto Juve is claiming that Newcastle are one of the most interested clubs in Juventus and France midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

Newcastle to return for France star this summer

This isn’t the first time Rabiot’s name has been linked to Newcastle afterthey tried to sign him last year when his contract was expiring, but the midfielder went on to sign a one-year extension with Juventus.

Now, Rabiot is in the very same situation with just months left on his deal with the Old Lady and rumours about his future circulating as three other teams join Newcastle in their interest in the 28-year-old.

It’s believed that Arsenal and Newcastle are currently the frontrunners, but that Atletico Madrid and Barcelona can’t be ruled out with Rabiot keen on a move to Spain.

It’s very likely that the Magpies will have to offer a significant amount in wages, especially with it being a free transfer, so that may put them off the signing as they look to maintain their current wage structure.

Geordies will have to lose one to gain one

Should Newcastle make a move for Rabiot in the summer, they could have eight midfield options upon the return of Joelinton from injury and Sandro Tonali from suspension.

Most of those are going to be wanting first-team minutes or could end up asking for a move elsewhere, so Eddie Howe may have to prevent this issue from happening before it even begins.

Sean Longstaff currently looks the most likely to depart with Leeds showing interest in the academy graduate who could be sold for pure profit and help Newcastle reinvest into other areas.

Howe won’t want to lose any of his key figures who helped him to get into the Champions League last season, but at some point he will have to develop a ruthless streak if he really wants to compete with the best.
