'Did this happen during a seance?': Trump-loving professor slammed for dead judge mix-up

Fox News/screen grab

A law professor who frequently defends Donald Trump got a swift correction on Wednesday when he asserted a dead judge had spoken out against ex-Trump attorney Michael Cohen.

"U.S. District Judge William Henry Pauley III slammed Michael Cohen today in saying that he has clearly committed 'perjury,'" he posted in a tweet thread.

"The court noted that there are 'two possibilities: one, Cohen committed perjury when he pleaded guilty before Judge Pauley or, two, Cohen committed perjury in his October 2023 testimony. Either way, it is perverse to cite the testimony, as Schwartz did, as evidence of Cohen’s ‘commitment to upholding the law.’”

One hitch: the judge Turley claimed attacked Cohen (and ultimately sentenced him) passed away in 2021.

The judge he meant to quote was Judge Jesse M. Furman who earlier on Wednesday questioned Cohen's truthfulness in a written order.

It didn't take long for the constitutional connoisseur to be tersely corrected.

"Judge Pauley died in 2021," former federal prosecutor Preet Bharara tweeted.

"Judge Pauley passed away three years ago and 'Professor' Turley has still not deleted this tweet," he chastised two hours later.

Journalist Bill Grueskin poked fun at Turley, writing, "Do his law students get 25% off tuition if they type TURLEY into the box for discount codes?"

"Did this happen during a seance? Because Judge Pauley died in 2021," reads a tweet by @DogginTrump.

"Difficult to do from 3 years in the grave, no professor?" asked Suzanne Lamminen.

@kalyx2020 also replied: "I believe you meant Judge Jesse M. Furman, not Pauley who died in 2021."
