Alexander Isak and Joe Willock react on Instagram after news about £35m Newcastle player yesterday

Newcastle United defender Sven Botman has been inundated with messages following confirmation of his knee injury.

The club have announced that Sven Botman has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and is going to be out of action for between six and nine months.

It is the second serious knee injury that he has sustained this season, and fans have argued that he should have underwent surgery last year. However, it was Botman’s decision just to rehab it, as that would allow him to return to action much sooner.

In the end, it has proven to be a mistake. The £35million man, who is one of Newcastle’s most expensive players ever, has now suffered another nasty knee injury, and could potentially be ruled out until the beginning of 2025.

Botman has taken to Instagram to share his disappointment over the news, but has vowed to come back a better player.

Hopefully that proves to be the case, and he has received a lot of support from his Newcastle United teammates following his message on Instagram.

Newcastle players shower Sven Botman with support after knee injury

A lot of Eddie Howe’s players have taken to Botman’s Instagram to send him a message of support following the news about his injury.

Alexander Isak wrote: “Love bro.”

Joe Willock added: “Sending love bro.”

Tino Livramento, who suffered an ACL injury when he was at Southampton, commented: “One day at a time.”

Botman’s message also received responses from Joelinton, Anthony Gordon, Lewis Hall, Miguel Almiron and many more. There was also a reply from Toon co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi, as well as various former Lille teammates.

Newcastle squad will rally around Sven Botman

It is great to see the players already offering their support to Botman. It is no surprise – this is a tight-knit group, and it is never nice to see anyone go down with a serious injury.

But this Newcastle squad has a lot of experience when it comes to serious injuries, so Botman should receive the ideal compassion and advice he needs from his teammates.

Emil Krafth has dealt with a lengthy knee injury recently, while Livramento had one before his move to Newcastle United. Elsewhere, Alexander Isak and Joe Willock have both spent a lot of time in the treatment room over the past couple of seasons. Then again, who hasn’t? This Newcastle team has been littered with injury problems.

Botman has vowed to come back better than ever, and to do that he will need the support of his friends and teammates. In Isak he has both, with the forward recently admitting that Botman is his best mate in the game.
