'Very difficult': Cesc Fabregas shares the biggest difference between Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger

Former Arsenal and Chelsea player Cesc Fabregas has now been explaining the big difference between Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger.

Although some Arsenal fans still resent Fabregas’ decision to join Chelsea, it perhaps is at least a little redeeming that the Spaniard made the London switch via Barcelona first.

It was definitely a heart-breaking one when Fabregas so famously adorned a Barcelona shirt before actually leaving Arsenal in 2011.

But with the 36-year-old now retired and working as an assistant manager at his club Como in Italy, fans have probably forgiven all that’s been mentioned above by now.

All in all, Fabregas made 303 appearances for Arsenal, 198 for Chelsea and 151 for Barcelona, not a bad career at all.

Of course, the Spaniard did also play under some of the most decorated managers in the world, Arsene Wenger, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

And when speaking on the ‘Planet Premier League’ podcast recently, Fabregas was asked the biggest difference between working under Wenger and Mourinho.

Two very different managers, and Fabregas did concede that they were very different in how they approached games.

Cesc Fabregas says Jose Mourinho was more tactically flexible than Arsene Wenger

The midfielder said Mourinho was much more willing to change players and his philosophy on an ad hoc basis, whereas Wenger stuck true to his decided principles.

Fabregas explained: “That’s very difficult to say but I think I gave you a great example about how Mourinho used to think [making lots of changes in games].

“Arsene had his philosophy, he didn’t change as much as Mourinho in terms of how he wanted to win, he had his ideas and his plan and he believed in the players he had to achieve what we were working [on] during the week.

“So he was not that flexible in this regard but again, what a coach, what a manager, and taking always the best of the young players which for me is the most difficult thing.”

Two brilliant minds, and Fabregas will surely look to benefit from a lot of what he learned from the likes of Mourinho and Wenger in his own coaching career.

Who knows, we could one day see the two-time Premier League winner back managing in England, perhaps even at Arsenal or Chelsea.

That being said, Fabregas has recently shared his thoughts on Ben White’s England situation.
