Two lorries collide and close A34 near Newbury

A collision between two lorries has closed a stretch of the A34 near Newbury.

The A34 southbound between the A4185 at Chilton and the M4 at Chieveley is closed.

Emergency services including Thames Valley Police are at the scene of the crash.

The road is expected to re-open between 9am and 9.15am.

A diversion route has been put in place by National Highways,

Diverted traffic is advised to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol and leave the A34 southbound at the Milton exit slip.

At the roundabout, use the third exit and join the A4130 Wantage Road and continue for approximately two miles to the roundabout at Rowstock.

Take the third exit onto the A417 towards Wantage.

On approaching Wantage, cross straight over the mini roundabout and immediately after the pelican crossing, take the first exit on the roundabout.

At the traffic light junction with Newbury Street and Ormand Road, turn left onto the A338.

After approximately eight miles follow the A338 through Great Shefford, and after approximately three miles take the first exit M4 junction 14 eastbound entry slip.

Follow the M4 eastbound to junction 13.

Take the M4 junction 13 eastbound exit slip and then rejoin the A34 southbound.
