'He was there': Willy Gnonto shares what Daniel Farke does in Leeds training that he absolutely loves

Willy Gnonto has shared what Daniel Farke does in Leeds United training that he really appreciates as a player.

After a really positive debut campaign in the Premier League at Leeds, Gnonto has had to bide his time this season, but has certainly come into his own over the last couple of months.

Gnonto had struggled to get into the side due to the form of Dan James and Crysencio Summerville, and was also clearly still suffering from the hangover of what happened in the summer.

There were times this season where he was lacking in confidence and perhaps the lowest moment came back in January in the FA Cup home tie with Plymouth Argyle.

However, just a week later, his winner at Bristol City provided him with the catalyst he needed to kick start his season. Including that game, he has six goals in nine league appearances and looks very much back to his best.

Gnonto shares what Farke does in Leeds training which he loves

On the latest episode of the Official Leeds United Podcast, Gnonto has now been speaking on his return to form and just how he has managed to get his confidence levels back.

The 20-year-old has put some of it down to what manager Daniel Farke does on the training pitch, revealing that he is never afraid to tell him when he needs to be better, but at the same time, will give praise where it’s due.

He said: “He is quite fair because there have been many moments this season where I haven’t been at the top, and he was there telling me, not that I needed him to because I expect a lot of myself.

“But he was there telling me in training when he thinks I can do better. But when you do good things he is also there telling you and I think that’s fair, because it has to go both ways.”

Gnonto has ‘virtually agreed’ terms of new Leeds contract

Even during the tough times, Farke says he has always maintained full belief in Gnonto this season and so it is nice to see it paying off over the last few weeks.

Farke has always seen him as a key player and will be determined the club do all they can to ensure he is tied to a fresh new deal as swiftly as possible.

There were reports in January that it was close to completion, however it has since gone quiet on that front and nothing has been signed as of yet.

That said, LeedsUnited.News spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey earlier this week on Gnonto’s contract situation, and he says terms are ‘virtually agreed’, and it is looking likely he will sign a new one.

Hopefully there is some good news to come regarding his contract situation in the near future.
