Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson has now done something which even Gareth Bale was unable to match

Tottenham Hotspur winger Brennan Johnson has now done something which Gareth Bale was unable to do.

There is no Premier League football being played currently with the majority of players away on international duty.

One of those players in Brennan Johnson and he has already played for his national side, Wales, this week.

What Brennan Johnson done that Bale couldn’t

On Thursday night, Wales played in a Euros Qualifier against Finland and came out as comfortable 4-1 victors.

They will now face a deciding game against Poland on Tuesday night. Wales were captained by Spurs man Ben Davies and had Johnson starting on the wing.

And the 22-year-old was able to get on the scoresheet for Rob Page’s side as he put Wales 3-1 ahead shortly after half time.

Journalist Sam Dean noted the goal was his third inside his first 25 appearances for Wales, something Bale was unable to match having scored just twice in the same number of games.

What Bale said about Johnson signing for Spurs

Johnson has now nearly spent his first season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since making the big-money move from Nottingham Forest.

He has seen his name thrown into the spotlight recently following Forest’s recent points deduction.

It has been claimed Forest rejected a £42m bid from Atletico Madrid for the winger before he joined Spurs for £47.5m.

Having made the move to N17, Bale was quick to comment on what Spurs fans can come to expect from the forward.

He said: “Like you said, the skies are the limit. As long as he’s playing football, improving and doing well, it’s good for Tottenham and good for Wales.”

Johnson did take a while to settle in to life in north London, but he is beginning to show his worth with his form of late.

In his last 11 Premier League appearances (seven of which were starts), Johnson has been able to return an impressive seven goal contributions.

To put that into context, Dejan Kulusevski has only returned four goal contributions in the same time.

After a poor display from all against Fulham last time out, it will be interesting to see if Johnson keeps his spot in the starting XI against Luton Town.
