Report: Chelsea send scouts to watch international friendly, they had their eye on £85m star

Reports have claimed that Chelsea had scouts in attendance to watch one international friendly last night.

According to Record Portugal, the Blues had figures present as Portugal defeated Sweden 5-2 during preperation for Euro 2024.

On the scoresheet for Sweden was Viktor Gyokeres, with Chelsea reportedly very interested in signing him at the end of the season.

Chelsea send scouts to watch Gyokeres

They were linked to him during the January transfer window, with quite a few people predicting they address the striker position in the middle of the season.

This was not done though, and instead all that happened was that they lost first team players Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana on loan to fellow Premier League sides.

If they are looking to spend big this summer, they can’t go for a player in better form than Gyokeres. He has 50 combined goals and assists in club football this season.

It seems as if this may be the thinking at Stamford Bridge too, with it being claimed that they had scouts in attendance to watch him find the net last night.

The report also went on to claim that the Blues have actually sent people to watch him play three times in as many months, with interest in him high.

Chelsea could sell Gallagher

Signing a player who is worth a reported £85m as part of his release clause will only be possible for Chelsea if they look to sell some players early in the transfer window.

The funds they need to raise will likely force them unfortunately to part ways with some players who have been important for them this season.

The notable example that fills this criteria is Conor Gallagher, with him clearly being one of the key members of the squad since Mauricio Pochettino took over.

However, this has not put an end to reports that he could be on the move, with Tottenham linked with a switch.
