Former PL star claims there will be 'no shortage of takers' for Arsenal outcast in summer

Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney looks certain to leave the club for good this summer, but there will be plenty of sides interested.

Tierney is currently on loan at Real Sociedad, but has continued to struggle with injuries despite impressing when fit, and it seems unlikely that the La Liga side will make his move permanent.

The 26-year-old now faces a completely uncertain future, as clubs may be wary of his poor injury record before investing what could be a significant fee into the left-back.

However, former Tottenham Hotspur and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has now claimed that there will likely be a lot of interested Premier League clubs in Tierney this summer, who could be keen on bringing him back to England.

Paul Robinson praises Kieran Tierney despite upcoming Arsenal exit

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson claimed that despite Arsenal moving on from Tierney, he is still a top class player who would attract a lot of interest.

“Tierney is absolutely still Premier League quality,” he stated.

“But if you look at the level that Arsenal have gone to, they’ve closed the gap quickly on Man City and Liverpool.

“Arteta clearly doesn’t see Tierney as a part of that progression and he wants to bring in players that he feels can compete with City and Liverpool on a regular basis.

“For any player that is allowed to go out on loan, questions will be asked about their long-term future.

“Tierney’s future is obviously away from Arsenal.

“But he is still a top player and he had a big impact at Arsenal and there won’t be any shortage of takers from Premier League clubs should he be available.”

Arsenal parted with £25m to sign Tierney from Celtic in 2019, and would likely want a significant chunk of this fee back.

His wages also likely rule him out of a stunning Celtic return, and financially, Arsenal would gain the most by selling him within the Premier League.

Newcastle were strongly linked last summer, but it seems unlikely that they will pursue a left-back in the summer.

Should a Premier League side come in, Arsenal should aim to receive as big a fee as possible to boost their transfer budget for what could be a busy window. What is clear though, is that Tierney will not be part of Mikel Arteta’s squad next season.
