Ben Davies shares what he noticed about Harry Kane in first training sessions after joining Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has been providing an insight on what it was like playing with Harry Kane.

The Welshman joined Tottenham back in 2014 when Harry Kane was just coming through the ranks.

Davies is currently away on international duty with Wales, but he has been looking back on what he saw in the England captain during his early spell in the first-team.

What Ben Davies said about Harry Kane

Davies played alongside Kane for the majority of his time in north London with the striker recently leaving in the summer.

Kane made the move to Bayern Munich last year in the hope of bringing his trophy drought to an end.

As the 30-year-old looks to do so in the Champions League with Bayern and then in the Euros with England, Davies has recalled his early memories of Kane.

Speaking on the Gab and Juls show, the Welshman has insisted Kane showed huge potential from the moment he got there.

He said: “It was pretty crazy because when I arrived there were a few times when Harry wasn’t even in the squad for games but what you saw in training was he was hungry. You could see he was an incredible finisher, that was the biggest thing that stands out. He would get the ball and you’d play a small sided game and every single game he would score three or four goals. Maybe his link up play wasn’t there or his passing wasn’t there, but he was so driven that when I get the ball it’s going in the net and you could see it over, and over and over.

“There were times at the start of the season when Pochettino came in he wasn’t selected and he was coming on. Then at Villa away he came on and scored a free kick and never looked backwards in the team.”

Gary Lineker worried after what he’s heard about Kane

A big couple of weeks await Kane as his hopes of lifting silverware in his first season at Bayern come under pressure.

It now looks like any hope of seeing Bayer Leverkusen fall away at the top of the Bundesliga is now entering miracle territory.

So Bayern’s only real opportunity now at a trophy is the Champions League where they have drawn Arsenal in the quarter-finals.

However, there is some serious concern over the England captain’s fitness after he sustained an ankle issue in a recent Bayern game.

Speaking on the matter, Gary Lineker shared his fears over the injury scare. He said: “A worrying moment for Harry Kane. I think he collided with the post, twisted his ankle late in Bayern’s victory.

“He’d already scored a goal, obviously, but he’s going to come to the England squad where he will get treated and they will look at it. I think that probably suggests it’s not too serious, hopefully.”

Since Lineker made those comments, Kane has joined up with the England squad at St. George’s Park. However, reports claim he has not been training with the squad ahead of the Brazil friendly.

Both Spurs and Bayern fans will be hoping he is back in time for the games against Arsenal.
