Sky Sports shares final step for 777 Partners amid Everton approval news

777 Partners now face one final hurdle ahead of their proposed takeover of Everton.

Over the past 24 hours, reports have emerged suggesting the Premier League is now warming to the idea of granting the Miami-based firm approval, nearly eight months after an agreement was reached with Farhad Moshiri.

Questions have been rightfully raised about777’s funding and the current state of some of its other sporting ventures.

Everton insiders have always remained confident that approval will be granted. The Liverpool Echo reports that representatives of the US-based firm share the same feeling.

Their optimism appears to have been rewarded, with Sky Sports reporting that the Premier League are “minded” to approve.

What is next for 777 Partners’ and their takeover of Everton?

Sky Sports have also given Evertonians insight into what could happen next.

It’s believed the decision must be reviewed by an independent oversight committee before final approval by the Premier League board.

777 have provided Everton with funding that is expected to reach £200million by the end of April.

Is this good news for Evertonians?

Initially, Evertonians will be delighted to hear the process is potentially nearing its conclusion. The uncertainty hasn’t helped anyone involved with the club.

But it’s fair to say 777’s reputation isn’t the best, particularly when it comes to their ownership of Standard Liege.

“We’ve seen information come out that within the 777 staple of clubs we have Standard Liege,” said finance expert Kieran Maguire.

“For the last three months, they’ve paid their wages late. These are red flags upon red flags upon reg flags.”

With a takeover now likely, time will tell whether the Miami-based firm is the right people to take the club forward. Josh Wander and company must do plenty of work to win over the Goodison Park faithful.

The Premier League’s vetting process appears to have been thorough, so there will be optimism that 777 are the right people to take charge.
