German Football Federation (DFB) president Bernd Neuendorf has announced contract renewal talks with national team coach Julian Nagelsmann after the international break.

"It would be absolutely desirable from our side," Neuendorf told broadcasters ZDF ahead of Germany's friendly international against France in Lyon, with a game against the Netherlands to follow on Tuesday.

"We're a good team, we get on well, we're in intensive dialogue."

Neuendorf had said earlier in the week that the DFB would like to continue with Nagelsmann who was appointed in autumn on a contract until this summer's European Championships, probably depending on how the team fares at the home event.

Nagelsmann has said he would like to have his future cleared up before the Euros because he doesn't want a break, either returning to club football or extending his national team deal.

He has previously coached Bundesliga clubs Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich.
