Sunderland break ‘excellent’ news

Fans have had little to shout about at the Stadium of Light this season. After the club looked good for another promotion push, their campaign fell apart in 2024.

The sacking of Michael Beale hoped to put an end to these issues however, interim manager Mike Dodds is yet to win a game.

Yet, one piece of good news has come out of the club this week. Aji Alese has now signed a brand-new deal at Sunderland to keep him at the club until 2027.

Damning Anthony Patterson verdict

Unfortunately, due to Sunderland’s form this season, it is likely that many of their star first-team players will leave the club in the summer.

Jobe Bellingham and Jack Clarke have already had significant links away from the club throughout 2024. However, it now appears that the Black Cats could lose another key man.

Speaking exclusively to Sunderland AFC News, Graeme Bailey revealed that the ‘keeper may well depart in the summer with many clubs interested in his signature.

The 2023/24 season is effectively over for Sunderland. The club’s hopes of reaching the playoffs are over and it is very unlikely that they will go down.

This means that planning for the next season is vital to ensure that the Black Cats can stage another successful push for the playoffs.

In order to achieve this task, Sunderland has been urged to appoint Steve Cooper, a man who has been highly successful in the Championship in recent years.
