‘He’s got a bit about him’: Celtic told they should be looking to sign ‘highly rated’ SPFL star

Celtic’s hunt to add quality to the team will begin this summer as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen the squad.

There is a lot of work needing to be done to shift players who were bought last summer who now look like they are not going to feature under the Celtic manager.

But, more importantly, Rodgers needs to add players who are currently better than what we currently have to help improve the Celtic first-team.

Squad depth has proven to be seriously lacking as injuries have blighted the defence of the title under Rodgers.

The hole left by Reo Hatate turned into a chasm as Rodgers turned to David Turnbull, Tomoki Iwata, Odin Thaigo Holm and Paulo Bernardo to step into the Japanese midfielder’s boots.

None of these players have managed to stake a claim in the first team but there is one SPFL player that Jamie Murphy believes could and he reckons the Hoops gaffer needs to be looking at him this summer.

Lennon Miller touted for Celtic once more

Murphy said [The Go Radio Football Show], “He’s shown he’s an excellent player. It doesn’t matter what age you are. 17-18 years old.

“Speaking to some of the boys at Motherwell, they rate him really highly.

“He’s a big tall boy as well. It’s not as if he’s a little 17-18 year old. He’s got a bit about him.

“He’s got a physical presence so you can be one that, well, he should be that they’re looking at.”

At just 17 years of age, Miller has already made 29 appearances for Motherwell. [Transfermarkt]

Against Celtic, he had a big hand in The Steelmens’ opening goal when Brendan Rodgers’ side had to come behind from 1-0 down to win 3-1.

He looked calm and assured in the heart of the Motherwell midfield and didn’t look out of place competing against Callum McGregor.

And this isn’t the first time Celtic have been urged to look at the talented youngster. Former Celtic hero, Charlie Mulgrew, urged Celtic to go and sign Miller after his Fir Park performance against the Hoops last month.

Whether or not Rodgers will make a move is anyone’s gues but there certainly wont be any shortage of admirers for Miller when the transfer window opens this summer.
