Chelsea offered chance to sign £60m defender, David Luiz is his role model

Chelsea could have the chance to sign one central defender from Serie A this summer.

The Blues are likely to be in the market for a new centre-back in the next transfer window, with Mauricio Pochettino having a couple of issues there at the moment.

Thiago Silva is out of contract at the end of the season, while Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana have struggled to stay fit this term.

In fact, the latter has not played a single minute of football under Pochettino.

It could see Chelsea make a move for a centre-half, with Juventus’ Gleison Bremer a potential option for them.

Chelsea could have opportunity to sign Gleison Bremer

According to HITC, Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Bremer, though they could face fierce competition for his signature.

As well as the Blues, the same outlet has claimed that the 27-year-old has also been proposed to Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

While Juventus may be prepared to get rid of Bremer, he is unlikely to be cheap.

Calciomercato reported last month that Juventus value the Brazilian at no lower than €70m (£60m).

Moving to Stamford Bridge would see Bremer get to emulate former Chelsea defender David Luiz. The former Torino man stated in an interview last year that Luiz is one of his role models.

What would Gleison Bremer bring to Chelsea?

A Brazil international who played for his country in their 1-0 win against England yesterday, Bremer has a lot of experience.

Recently turning 27, he may be a more suitable replacement for Silva than someone like a 18-year-old Leny Yoro, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.

As per FBref, Bremer has ranked in the 87th percentile for aerials won among centre-backs over the last 12 months, so he is pretty strong in the air. £60m is a lot of money, though, especially for a defender. But aside from that, Bremer is definitely a name worth considering.
