Wonder-kid dubbed ‘the Scottish Harry Kane’ offered long-term deal at Aston Villa after surreal campaign

Aston Villa have offered Rory Wilson a new long-term contract according to reports after netting 36 goals in 42 games for club and country this season.

Villa look like they have found their next gem. The academy is well known for producing some of the UK’s best talents. Legends such as Gabby Agbonlahor and Jack Grealish have all come through Villa Park.

Now, Unai Emery is looking to guarantee the future of his club as he looks to lock down one of the world’s most exciting talents.

Wilson, who joined from Rangers in 2022, has been scoring for fun since his move to England. The Scotsman adapted to his surroundings but his deal was set to expire in 2025 with other clubs circling.

However, Villa has now taken action and have reportedly offered the 18-year-old a new long-term contract.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Villa have offered Wilson a new five-year contract to stay at the Birmingham outfit.

With his contract set to expire in 2025, Romano also reports that multiple clubs are monitoring the situation with Cross border training compensation stood at €270,000 summer 2025.

This will certainly come as a relief for many Villa fans as it proves the club are doing everything in their power to secure his services beyond 2025.

The hype around Wilson has existed for many years with many dubbing the wonder-kid as the ‘Scottish Harry Kane’.

It seems that the ball is now in Wilson’s court with it up to the 18-year-old if he wants to commit his future to Villa or explore other options.

If the academy can match the trajectory of the first team, Villa will remain one of the better teams in the country, continuing to compete for the Champions League for many years.
