Report: Ross Wilson wants 18-year-old he signed for Rangers at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest appointed Ross Wilson as the club’s sporting director back in April 2023 and now he might be plotting a raid on former club Rangers.

The Reds made a move for the boardroom figure after sacking Filippo Giraldi following some pretty suspect transfers.

Wilson came in for a bit of criticism for the slow nature of transfers in the summer and it became a topic of discussion what his role actually was at Forest.

Graeme Bailey confirmed exclusively to Nottingham Forest News last month that Wilson will be involved with all aspects of the club – including transfers.

Forest will have to cut their transfer cloth accordingly in the summer following the club’s four-point deduction for breaching PSR rules.

Morgan Gibbs-White has been linked with Arsenal, whilst Liverpool are weighing up a move for Murillo with it looking increasingly likely that Forest could lose a star player.

Alas, it would appear as though some new recruits will still be on the agenda, however, and signing a young Rangers starlet might be on the cards.

Nottingham Forest want Rangers gem Archie Stevens

According toFootball Transfers, Forest and Brighton are considering a battle to land Stevens from Rangers – but Wilson might hold the aces.

The England youth international is currently with the youth team at Rangers, with admiring glances now coming from south of the border.

Stevens made the move to Ibrox in 2022 from AFC Wimbledon and made his debut for the first team against Queen of the South as a 16-year-old.

Forest will look to obviously sign some players ready for their first team but this would suggest they won’t discount the academy either.

If Forest did manage to lure Stevens to the City Ground he would follow Jamie Newton who signed for the Reds from the Teddy Bears in January.

Who is Archie Stevens?

Well, he’s a right-winger who has been a regular in the academy ranks at Rangers since checking in from League Two outfit AFC Wimbledon.

The player is attracting interest and it remains to be seen whether a move to England is something that the player would consider.

Stevens has been featuring in the UEFA Youth League, Challenge Cup and League Cup this season and he will be craving men’s football in the near future.

The player was born in England and has represented his country at youth level making 10 appearances in total across a couple of age groups.
