Report: How Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi felt after watching England vs Brazil on Saturday

Two of Newcastle United’s owners were at Wembley on Saturday, as Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi watched England take on Brazil.

They visited the national stadium to see the Three Lions play, watching on as Brazil beat England 1-0 in a friendly.

Regardless of the result, it was a special night for Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi. Two players who they brought to Newcastle United were involved, and they were two of the standout performers on the night.

Bruno Guimaraes was exceptional in the middle of the park for Brazil, while Anthony Gordon made his England debut. It was a magical moment for the 23-year-old, having worked so hard to receive international recognition.

He is now a full England international, and it is a result of the hard work he has put in since joining Newcastle United.

It will have been a very proud occasion for Gordon, and the same goes for the Newcastle owners.

According to the Daily Mail, there was a sense of pride and relief from Staveley and Ghodoussi as they left Wembley on Saturday night.

There definitely should be pride, but for different reasons. For Bruno, there has to be pride in having such a special player play for your club. On top of that, Staveley was the one who got the midfielder to sign his new contract at St James’ Park.

As for Gordon, Newcastle have given him the platform to reach his potential. The Toon owners have seen him blossom, while it was Staveley’s intervention last year that helped bring him to Tyneside from Everton.

Also relief from Newcastle owners on Saturday night

The relief will come from seeing both players come through the game unscathed.

It would have been a disastrous night for Newcastle United if either of them had got injured, given how important the final 10 Premier League games are. The Magpies have 10 games to save their season, with Bruno still confident that Newcastle can qualify for Europe.

That confidence would have drained out of the entire club if either Bruno or Gordon had got injured on Saturday night. They both now have one more game each to get through, with Brazil facing Spain on Tuesday while England take on Belgium on the same night.
