Andreas Pereira spotted using old nickname for Manchester United star in Wembley tunnel

Andreas Pereira may have left Old Trafford nearly two years ago now but it’s clear that the Fulham man still has a special place in his heart for Manchester United.

Not everybody can join United as a teenager and go on to become a first-team star.

Alejandro Garnacho is living out that dream right now many others have to leave United in search of first-team football elsewhere.

Midfielder Andreas Pereira fits that bill having joined United from the PSV Eindhoven ranks as a 16-year-old.

Pereira just never really settled as a regular starter at United and had four loan spells away from the club, joining Granada, Valencia, Lazio and Flamengo.

Come the summer of 2022, the time for Pereira to leave Old Trafford permanently had arrived as he joined Fulham in a £10million move with a potential £3million in add-ons.

Pereira clearly still loves United having sent a heartfelt message to United fans after returning to Old Trafford with Fulham.

Pereira has found his best form with Fulham, even earning a recall to the Brazil national team setup ahead of facing England and Spain.

Andreas Pereira on Luke Shaw

Brazil beat England 1-0 on Saturday evening and Pereira came off the bench to help secure a victory at Wembley Stadium.

This will have been a special moment for Pereira and we then saw him reunite with a couple of former United teammates after the game.

A video posted on England’s official YouTube channel shows Marcus Rashford shouting over to Pereira as he takes part in media duties.

Pereira also reunited with left back Luke Shaw, with the Fulham ace seemingly delighted to see his former teammate in the tunnel despite him not actually playing in the game.

Pereira immediately called Shaw ‘tiki take maestro’ before sharing a hug and a chat – but where does that nickname come from?

Luke Shaw – tiki taka maestro?

Some United fans will remember this, but Pereira first started using the ‘tiki taka maestro’ nickname for Shaw – at least publicly – in 2019.

Pereira used the nickname on Instagram and was spotted doing the same thing again two years later.

We’re now in 2024 but Pereira hasn’t forgotten that name, immediately calling back to that nickname from five years ago.

Pereira has never really explained the nickname but we can only imagine that it came from training with Pereira paying tribute to the left back’s technical ability.
