Cops ID electric scooter rider killed in crash with SUV

Linden police investigate after the driver of an electric scooter was struck and killed by an SUV on Wednesday, March 20, 204.

Authorities have identifiedthe man who struck and killed by an SUV while he rode an electric scooter in Linden last week as a 46-year-old Roselle resident.

Lamar McBride was riding the scooter south in the northbound lane of North Wood Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a southbound SUV whose driver was turning left onto East Gibbons Street, officials said.

Police and firefighters arrived and found the McBride trapped under the vehicle. McBride was brought to an area hospital after the car was lifted. He later died of his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, a Linden police spokesman said Monday.
