Missing 20-year-old man found dead in N.J. lake

The body of a missing 20-year-old man has been recovered from a swimming lake in Morris County, officials said on Monday.

Altariq Hickson was last seen by his family at his home in Roxbury on March 6 and was reported missing on March 12, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. After his belongings were found on Mine Hill Beach in the neighboring town of Mine Hill, police conducted a search of the area.

The body of a male was recovered from Sunset Lake, the body of water that is part of Mine Hill Beach, on March 19, authorities said. An autopsy later identified the body as Hickson and determined he died of an accidental drowning, officials said.

An investigation into the drowning is ongoing, but prosecutors have said that it is not considered suspicious at this time.
