'Going to go': Ben Foster says 52-year-old manager would join Manchester United for £300k a week

Unai Emery’s work at Aston Villa is simply incredible. Taking over a side that were sitting in the bottom half of thw table under Steven Gerrard, Emery has guided Villa to the top four in the Premier League.

Villa currently sit fourth in the Premier League table and remain in the quarter-finals of the Conference League, and look good to win it. Emery could deliver a European trophy, and Champions League football.

Currently, the former Arsenal and PSG man has pushed Villa into fourth – but they have played an extra game than Tottenham, who are three points beind. Emery is a contender for Manager of the Season.

Cesc Fabregas has praised his fellow countryman after hearing what training is like under the Spaniard. Meanwhile, at Man United – it is a different story. They are in the hunt for the top four, but some way off.

Despite a run of recent form, Erik ten Hag remains under enormous pressure after another poor season in which Man United were dumped out of the Champions League group stages. He could be replaced.

Ben Foster thinks Unai Emery could join Manchester United

Especially, with Man United now under new ownership. It could be that Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks for a new manager in the summer. If he is to look within the realms of the Premier League, who better than Emery?

Manchester United fans would of course, have to look past Emery’s Arsenal past. But, given the lack of success United fans have endured over the past few seasons – you would imagine that would be easy.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ben Foster believes Emery would take the job at Manchester United at the end of the season – but only if he was offered an eye-watering five-year, £300,000-a-week contract.

“If Man United wanted Unai Emery, they come in and go £300,000 a week – and he goes, ‘what, £300,000 a week, five-year deal?’,” Foster said, when discussing a possible move to his old club for Emery.

“He’ll go – as long as you write it in the contract that I’m guaranteed five years money, so if you sack me after a month, i’m guaranteed – it’s worth £70m, £80m to him. He’s going to go. It’s as simple as that.”

There is no chance Emery leaves Villa for Old Trafford

Emery would be foolish to join Man United right now. While it is still an appealing job given the size and stature of the club, United are far from where they need to be to even be competing for a top-four spot.

At Villa, Emery has European football, the probability he will get Champions League football – whether that is in fourth or fifth, and plenty of cash to spend. He has a good thing going at Villa, at the moment.

The only reason Emery would leave Villa for Man United is due to the size of the club – but right now, Villa are ahead of United in terms of position in the League table and quality of the squad. He will stay put.
