Unprecedented demand for West Ham clash leaves Leverkusen ticket site gridlocked

West Ham are so massive they have caused Bayer Leverkusen’s ticket sales site to virtually burst at the seams.

West Ham meet Bayer Leverkusen in what is a hotly anticipated Europa League quarter-final.

David Moyes’s men head to Germany for the first leg on April 11th.

The Hammers then welcome the Bundesliga leaders to the London Stadium a week later.

We brought you news yesterday that the all-important second leg at home had sold out over 60,000 tickets more than three weeks early.

Hammers and Germans have quarter-final fever

That came after West Ham fans also sold out the away leg with all 1,790 tickets snapped up in double quick time.

Well it’s not only Hammers fans who have quarter-final fever it seems.

Because Bayer Leverkusen face unprecedented demand for the West Ham clash as their ticket site is left gridlocked.

West Ham clash sends Leverkusen ticket site into meltdown

And it seems West Ham are so massive it’s sent the Leverkusen ticket site into meltdown.

One hour after tickets went on sale to Leverkusen fans, there were still 111,229 people in the queue.

That left supporters facing a virtual queue wait time of nearly one hour.

It seems there is confidence on both sides of making the semi-finals where either AC Milan or Roma will await.

Despite the level of the opposition, there is an air of confidence among many West Ham fans for the clash.

Azerbajani side Qarabag came within minutes of knocking Leverkusen out in the last 16.

Confidence on both sides of the tie

They gave the Hammers great encouragement by scoring four goals against Xabi Alonso’s pass-masters over two legs.

Freiburg – who West Ham vanquished in the last 16 with a 5-0 thumping at home to turn around a 1-0 deficit from the first leg in Germany – also got two goals against Leverkusen in a narrow 3-2 defeat last weekend.

West Ham’s brilliant attacking players and recent European pedigree make them a dangerous team for any side to face.

One European football expert believes West Ham could be facing the German title favourites at the perfect time.

Alonso himself is giving West Ham plenty of respect ahead of the match.

And Hammers star Jarrod Bowen has warned Leverkusen not to underestimate his side.
