Report: Juventus now really want to sign 'outstanding' Tottenham player, £17m bid could be enough

Tottenham and Juventus have been in regular contact across recent seasons – mainly due to Fabio Paratici.

The Premier League outfit have been in touch with the Serie A side on several occasions to negotiate deals for Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur – forming a link after previously employing Paratici to work on recruitment.

Now, the tables have turned as Juventus express a desire to sign someone from Tottenham

Juventus want Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Well, Juventus want to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

That is according to Tuttosport.

The Italian news outlet believe Juventus are very keen to sign the Denmark international, and it is believed that the Dane is currently stalling over a new contract at Tottenham with his current terms expiring in just over 12 months.

Therefore, Spurs could have a decision to make this summer if discussions fail to progress – it would be the last chance Tottenham get to recoup a decent fee for Hojbjerg.

Tuttosport add that a bid of €20m (£17m) could be enough for Juventus to secure the “outstanding” Tottenham No.5’s signature this summer.

That would see Tottenham make a slight profit on Hojbjerg – who joined in a £15m deal from Southampton back in August 2020.

The 28-year-old has made 30 appearances in all competitions so far this season, although 22 of those have come as a substitute with Ange Postecoglou preferring the likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma.

Tottenham already have a replacement coming to N17

If Tottenham do receive £17m for Hojbjerg this summer, Postecoglou could put that towards strengthening another position – as a replacement for the Dane is already coming.

Spurs wrapped up an £8.5m deal to sign Lucas Bergvall from Djurgarden in January – a talent who has even been compared to Jude Bellingham.

The Sweden international seems ready for senior football already thanks to his muscular frame, with many tipping him to become as good as his fellow Swede Kulusevski.

Therefore, Spurs needn’t worry about replacing Hojbjerg with Bergvall on his way to N17 – that potential £17m fee could be put towards one of Tottenham’s primary targets, such as Wolves No.7 Pedro Neto.
