'Strength and speed': Manager backs 'special' 22-year-old to join Arsenal, Edu is reportedly scouting him

Arsenal are currently one of Europe’s best sides under Mikel Arteta – and there are not many players who would be able to break into the Spaniard’s squad.

The bar has well and truly been raised since the days of Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac, with talent such as Declan Rice and William Saliba turning the Gunners into a formidable outfit.

However, according to Arne Slot – Manager of Feyenoord – there is one young talent who could play for Arsenal

Arne Slot backs Quinten Timber to play for Arsenal

Well, the brother of Jurrien Timber – Quinten Timber – has now been tipped to play for Arsenal.

Slot is quoted by Voetbal Zone as saying: “If he continues to develop as he has in the past year, his ceiling is extremely high. He has made great development in the past year. I think he is a very special player because he has the strength and speed in midfield to create a surplus. I also think he has a very good mentality and is a very good boy.”

When asked to choose between the Timber brothers, the Dutchman added: “It’s hard to say, I haven’t worked with him, but I think they are both very good. That one is already at Arsenal, and I don’t think it is ruled out that Quinten should also be able to go to a club of that caliber.”

Clearly, Slot feels the 22-year-old is more than capable of joining his brother at the Emirates Stadium.

Timber has made 37 appearances for Feyenoord so far this season, impressively scoring seven goals while also providing seven assists.

Edu is aware

Edu – a man very alert to market opportunities, having signed Gabriel Martinelli for just £6m – is already aware of Timber’s talents, unsurprisingly.

A story from 90min claims that Arsenal are currently scouting the Feyenoord No.8 – with Liverpool and Manchester United also keeping tabs on his performances.

Arsenal could be in need of another central midfielder this summer amid doubts over Jorginho’s future at the Emirates Stadium, so perhaps Timber could join his brother in north London if the Italy international does depart.
