Pierce Brosnan makes feelings clear on ‘new James Bond’ as he shares advice with Aaron Taylor-Johnson

Former 007 star Pierce Brosnan has dispensed some advice to Aaron Taylor-Johnson after reports claim the Marvel actor has been offered the role of the next James Bond.

Taylor-Johnson, 33, is supposedly expected to accept the role of the iconic star, who was most recently portrayed by Daniel Craig.

According to The Sun, a source revealed: "Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back."

"As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement."

George Lazenby, who played the classic character in the 1960s, backed the Kick-Ass star’s rumoured offer, and now Brosnan, who starred as Bond from 1995 to 2002, has offered his opinion.

Speaking to RTÉ Radio 1, the 70-year-old stated: "I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so."

He continued: "I read the news about his possibilities of being a Bond so I would definitely tip my hat to the fellow."

Sharing some wise words based on his own experience, the Irish actor added: "Be bold, go out there and have a great time. Just love it, just go for it. He can do it."

Speaking to TMZ, 1960s Bond Lazenby said he supported the decision "as long as they do the character justice," and went on to advise the actor "to be true to himself and reinvent the role to fit him."

Lazenby portrayed Bond in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and has commented on Taylor-Johnson’s potential casting.

The most recent Bond was Craig, who debuted his version of the iconic spy in 2006’s Casino Royale.

The announcement about Taylor-Johnson has left Bond fans debating, with some throwing their weight behind the actor and others casting doubt on the reported decision.

Another big name who's backed the star is formerBond girl Madeline Smith, who argued the actor has a quality Roger Moore "did not have."

She told Martin Daubney on GB News: "I think he is a beautiful looking man. He has something dear Roger Moore did not have.

"He has an air of danger. He has that narrow-eyed look.

"The thing is about darling Roger, he didn’t want confrontation in real life or indeed in film. I think that is maybe one tiny element against his Bond.

"He had such a pleasant face and a pleasant personality. I think this guy looks like he could be trouble. Bond needs to have that edge, which Sean [Connery] had."
