Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa earned his first full England debut on Tuesday night against Belgium.
After making his debut against Brazil over the weekend, Gareth Southgate finally saw sense and handed the versatile Aston Villa player his first start.
Ezri Konsa was deployed at right-back – a role he has played many times under Unai Emery this season – and put on a strong showing during the 2-2 draw.
Jude Bellingham scored a stoppage-time equaliser to rescue the game for England, but it was Aston Villa’s very own Youri Tielemans stealing the show with a brace.
The Villa midfielder latched onto a mistake from Jordan Pickford to open the scoring, before he doubled his tally with a header.
Ezri Konsa couldn’t do much with those efforts, with his overall game was pretty solid and a big plus for his chances of making the Euro 2024 squad in the summer.
After the game, the 26-year-old reacted on Instagram, with Jude Bellingham sending him a message in the comments section which read ’my guy’, with Morgan Rogers adding: ’That’s my boy’ and others praising his performance.

“Great feeling to make my full debut and get 90 minutes in,” wrote Konsa.
“Back to Villa for a big end to the season.”

This was Konsa’s second England camp after previously not earning any minutes.
A strong performance off the bench against Brazil and now his first start where he didn’t look out of place.
This is a positive sign towards his hopes of repping England at Euro 2024, but he knows that he still has a lot more to do.
If he can help Villa secure Champions League football and win the Europa Conference League, then he surely can’t be ignored and should make the final 23-man squad.
