Tottenham legend sends classy message to Declan Rice and £100m Arsenal striker target

One former Tottenham Hotspur star has now reached out to Declan Rice and one Arsenal transfer target on social media.

Declan Rice reached a landmark moment in his career on Tuesday evening.

The Arsenal midfielder won his 50th international cap and captained the Three Lions for the first time as England battled to a 2-2 draw against Belgium in a friendly at Wembley Stadium. Chelsea legend John Terry and Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham were both quick to congratulate Rice for the feat.

In the meantime, Ivan Toney made just his second appearance for his country and scored his first goal on the international stage. The 28-year-old converted coolly from the penalty spot to level up the scores in the first half.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the Brentford star amid Mikel Arteta’s ongoing search a new striker. However, the Bees have already put a hefty £100 million price tag on Toney. His value could increase even further if he earns a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this summers’ EUROs competition and he impresses at the tournament.

Harry Kane sends message to Declan Rice and Arsenal target Ivan Toney

Rice was handed the captain’s armband, and Toney was arguably only included in the starting XI in the first place for this fixture, due to the absence of Harry Kane. The Tottenham Hotspur legend and current Bayern Munich star was sidelined for this match with an ankle injury, as reported by the BBC.

However, the 30-year-old still took to X to say, “Great fighting spirit from the lads to keep pushing until the end. Congrats on the first England goal [Toney] and to [Rice] on your 50th cap and leading the team out.”

Declan Rice and Harry Kane ready to face-off in the Champions League

Rice and Kane will soon be on opposing sides once again, though, as Arsenal are set to take on Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Another former Spurs striker, Darren Bent, recently offered his prediction for how Arsenal will fare in this continental clash against the German giants.
