Gers title bid boost as Clement sees hitmen hit hot streak

The international break is, pretty much, over and Philippe Clement will be looking forward to having all of his Rangers players back and available, ready to fight once again for the Premiership title.

The Gers boss will have been disappointed to hear that Ridvan Yilmaz is set to miss the next game, however, an Old Firm return is on the cards.

What Philippe Clement will be glad to see, is his strikers scoring goals and a forgotten Rangers star proving that he still has what it takes at the highest level.

Philippe Clement sees Rangers stars shine on international stage

After scoring and playing well against Ghana, Cyriel Dessers started on the bench against Mali only to have to get stripped just half an hour into the game.

Rangers have been short of creativity and goals at times this season and one of the frustrations was when Ibrox favourite Ianis Hagi was sent out on loan and Sam Lammers given the coveted number ten spot.

What also hasn’t helped, has been the shortage of players capable of playing off the right-hand side of attack, a position he excelled in during our last title winning campaign.

Like Dessers, Hagi started on the bench but did his chances of a recall to the starting XI no harm at all with a neatly taken finish.

Hagi has enjoyed his international break, a trip to Northern Ireland saw him reunited with a group of Rangers fans and his love for the club is still clear for all to see.

Also on the scoresheet was Fabio Silva.

If James Tavernier fancies a night off, it’s good to know that all three of our strikers fancy their chances from the spot.

Three goals in two games for Silva for Portugal Under-21s should see him come back in decent shape and full of confidence, he also managed a couple of assists.

As with Dessers, the timing couldn’t be better.

The international break can be a bit of a nuisance but, on this occasion, Philippe Clement will be glad to welcome back to Rangers his in-form forwards.

All he has to do now is decide which to pick or to keep playing them together.
