‘Bagsman’: Tim Iroegbunam and Liverpool star loved what one Aston Villa player did last night

Aston Villa youngster Morgan Rogers impressed for England U21 last night, rounding off a successful period on international duty for the forward.

Aston Villa duo Ezri Konsa and Ollie Watkins weren’t the only players on show representing England last night, as Morgan Rogers shone for the U21s.

The 21-year-old came on as a substitute during England U21s Euro qualification fixture against Luxembourg U21, a fixture that was dominated by Lee Carsley’s side.

It was a particularly good night for Rogers, who after marking his U21 debut on Sunday with an assist, was back contributing to the goals last night.

Despite only playing 28 minutes of the contest that ended 7-0 to England U21, Rogers was heavily involved in the second half, showing his worth on the international stage.

The Villan not only scored twice but recorded two key passes, won 100% of his aerial and ground duels and completed 100% of his dribbles in an emphatic display off the bench, via Sofascore.

The two goals meant that Rogers ended the international break with three goal contributions in two games, making his mark in a dazzling England U21 side.

It was an instant impact from Rogers as he scored just a minute after being introduced, with both of his goals set up by Chelsea jewel, Noni Madueke.

After the game, the 21-year-old took to social media to express his joy in scoring his first two goals for England U21, sharing a post on Instagram that read:

“2 goals. My boy got me”, referencing the input of Madueke to set up his brace.

Many stars from the Premier League were quick to comment on the Villa man’s post, including his teammate Tim Iroegbunam, who commented a heart.

Former Villan Carney Chukwuemeka also left a comment, with Liverpool sensation Harvey Elliott also expressing his delight for his international teammate.

Elliott branded Rogers a “bagsman” and was joined by Madueke in singing the Villa ace’s praises, who said “got you bro”.

It’s been an exciting start to 2024 for Rogers, who made the £15m move from Championship outfit Middlesbrough to Villa in January.

Now with international minutes and goals under his belt, the Englishman will be eyeing domestic goals, with him enjoying his recent game time under Unai Emery in both the Premier League and in Europe.

It will be hoped that the 21-year-old can now translate his goalscoring prowess for the Villans, with a tough battle with Wolves coming up on Saturday evening.
