Tottenham have changed their summer transfer plans because of £22m player – journalist

Tottenham Hotspur have long been linked with a new striker.

The north London club sold Harry Kane last summer, and after not buying a replacement in the same window, the north London club have been linked with a number of potential other options.

Indeed, the likes of Santiago Gimenez and Jonathan David have been linked to Tottenham, but, now, it’s been claimed that Spurs may not even sign a striker.

According to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Tottenham may not sign a number nine this summer because of how well Heung-Min Son has done this season.

Tottenham may not sign a striker because of Heung-Min Son

Jones shared what he knows about Tottenham’s transfer plans and the £22m man.

“I think he will revert to being more of a forward player through the centre. Tottenham in terms of recruitment this summer may actually look more for wide attackers rather than a proper number nine, and that’s because Son has been so effective,” Jones said.

Heung-Min Son is good enough

We can’t knock Tottenham if this is indeed their strategy.

Why go out and sign a potential 20-goal a season striker when you already have one just waiting to be utilised?

Son has shown this season that he can be absolutely devastating when playing centrally, and Tottenham don’t need to go and splash the cash on another player to do that job.

However, with that being said, if Son is to move into the middle on a full-time basis, Tottenham probably do need to sign another winger to make up for Son’s absence down that left-flank, and that is yet another difficult job.

It remains to be seen what Tottenham end up doing this summer, but one way or another, it sounds as though there will be attacking reinforcements at Spurs.
