Newark Cancer Research UK Fundraising Committee organised a fundraising even at the Cedric Ford Pavilion on Newark Showground.

A fundraising committee is working hard towards their goal to raise a million pounds for Cancer Research UK.

Since the Newark fundraising branch was set up in 1958 it has raised £950,000 for charity.

The 170 guests at the Sunday Lunch were invited to bring an antique on the day, to be valued by Antiques Expert, Colin Young, from Golding Young & Mawer.

Sunday lunch fundraise

After the three course Sunday roast lunch, Colin talked about some of the antiques brought in and entertained the guests by sharing his experiences as an auctioneer and his time on the BBC’s Bargain Hunt programme.

Roger Pykett, chairman of the committee said: “The Sunday roast lunch is a new fundraising idea and the antiques theme was very well received.

“We are thankful to everyone who supported the lunch by attending and also the generous donations we have received.”

The lunch follows on from the Frog Race held in January, and both events combined raised a total of £9,308.
