8 bunny-themed movies perfect to keep kids entertained this Easter

The Focus breaks down a list of where to watch eight bunny-themed movies and help keep the kids entertained this Easter.

Keeping the kids happy over the Easter holidays isn’t always easy, but it’s made a lot easier when they’re immersed in a movie. With all of the excitement over egg hunts and chocolate, it will help if you put on a movie that feels as though it’s part of the celebrations. It’s slim pickings for straight-up Easter movies, but there are a handful of bunny-centric titles that feel perfect for the occasion and will keep the children smiling.

Easterland

This animated movie is very Easter-focused and sees Benny, the Easter Bunny, sent away by his foe Bad Clyde to the Land of the Holiday Misfits.

Learning of Benny’s situation, Santa Claus and Gargaff the Reindeer set out on a journey from the North Pole to rescue their friend and save Easter.

Hop

Easily one of the most popular movie choices each Easter, Hop is a 2011 family animation, the film whisks audiences away to Easter Island, where a rabbit who makes candy is preparing his son E.B. to take over.

E.B. would rather be a drummer than take his father’s place at the factory, so he escapes to Los Angeles and begins spending time with a man named Fred O’Hare. Back on Easter Island, on the other hand, a chick is stirring things up, and they may need E.B.’s help more than ever. It’s a fun choice, and I’d say it’s one of the best of all these titles to put on this Easter.

Peter Rabbit

The 2018 family comedy Peter Rabbit boasts a stacked cast that includes James Corden,
Rose Byrne, Margot Robbie, Daisy Ridley, and more, all giving exceptional voice performances.

Based on the beloved Beatrix Potter character, James voices the titular Peter Rabbit, who loves causing trouble in Mr. McGregor’s vegetable garden. Unhappy with his unwanted visitors, McGregor decides to push out the animals and a whimsical battle for the garden ensues.

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway

With a returning cast of characters, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway is the 2021 sequel to the above but follows Peter as he ventures out of the garden and into a world he hopes will embrace his mischievous side.

His family heads out in search of him as he travels down a path of self-discovery, realizing what is most important to him. Of course, it makes an ideal pairing with the first movie and keeps the kids happy for a few hours.

Rabbit School – Guardians Of The Golden Egg

An adventurous 2017 animation, Rabbit School – Guardians Of The Golden Egg is about a Max, a bunny living in the city who is suddenly forced into a school for rural rabbits.

The school is protecting the precious Golden Egg from a family of foxes, but can Max grow in his new surroundings and help preserve it?

Rise Of The Guardians

Along with Hop, Rise Of The Guardians is a perfect and popular Easter pick.

The 2012 movie from DreamWorks (Shrek, Trolls) focuses on the Guardians, including Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy, who serve to protect children from the darkness of the world. It’s basically an Easter classic at this point—the kids will love it.

Wallace & Gromit – The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit

I grew up adoring Wallace & Gromit, and one of the brilliant things about it is it’s just as enjoyable for adults as it is for kids.

Ideal for the family to sit and watch, the pair’s 2005 feature-length debut sees the pair step
up to the challenge of stopping a were-rabbit from destroying the town’s crops. It’s an irresistibly charming and hilarious treat, brilliantly written and made by all involved.

Zootopia

Last but not least, Disney‘s 2016 gem Zootopia centers on Judy Hopps, a rabbit from Bunnyburrow who joins the Zootopia Police Department and gets to work solving a string of disappearances.

Again, this is definitely one that both adults and kids can enjoy, so if you’re watching along too then this comes highly recommended.
