West Ham starting lineup vs Newcastle confirmed

West Ham starting lineup vs Newcastle confirmed as David Moyes names his XI for today’s Premier League clash.

Newcastle play host to West Ham in the Premier League this afternoon, and David Moyes has made a change to his starting lineup.

The Hammers are currently sitting three places and four points clear of the Toon in the table, and we can’t afford to lose today if we harbour genuine ambitions of a top seven finish.

Moyes spoke to reporters before the game and urged the West Ham fans to get behind his team heading into the final nine games of the season.

A draw would be a good result for us today but if we could get all three points, we really would be in a strong position.

So what XI has Moyes gone with?

The Hammers boss has made change from the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at the London Stadium two weeks ago, as confirmed via the club’s official X account:

Come into the side in place of:

Alphonse Areola, Vladimir Coufal, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Kurt Zouma, Emerson Palmieri, James Ward-Prowse, Tomas Soucek, Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio

That XI is more than good enough to get the job done at St James’ Park this afternoon.

That said, the absence of Edson Alvarez is obviously a big blow for the Hammers. The boys just have to make sure that they’re 100 per cent up for it today.

Newcastle will be desperate for the win, and they’ll likely start the game with a high-level tempo, and attempt to press us high up the pitch from the off.

The West Ham starting lineup named by Moyes is an XI that can cause the Newcastle players all sorts of problems. Let’s hope that we don’t just passively sit back and allow them to have their way with us.

I think we’re going to get a result today – 3-1 West Ham, COYI X.
