'Class act': Sky Sports pundit blown away by Chelsea player in their 2-2 draw today against Burnley

Chelsea fans have very little to shout about after watching their side drop more league points at home to Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea recorded a 2-2 draw today versus a Burnley side that played the entire second-half with a man less after Lorenz Assignon’s red card for the visitors at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer, 21, can leave the field as the one Blues player proud with their individual display in the Premier League fixture.

The left-footed attacker scored a goal in each half, taking his league tally up to 13 league goals.

Remarkably, Palmer has now managed to do what Eden Hazard did in his first Chelsea season by reaching 20 direct goal involvements in the league (13 goals, 8 assists).

Pundit in awe of Chelsea player

Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd did really enjoy Palmer’s effort for the hosts at Stamford Bridge.

He did applaud the 21-year-old super talent after each of his goals, starting with his penalty on the stroke of half-time.

“Wow. Paneka. Unbelievable. 1-0 Chelsea, straight down the middle. Wow. What a penalty,” Boyd said on the Sky Sports News channel (3:45pm, 30 March).

When reacting to Palmer’s second goal, Boyd added on Sky Sports (4:40pm): “It’s Cole Palmer. He’s been really good this afternoon… Cole Palmer gets it in his feet and smashes it in the bottom corner. It’s a really good finish. He has been the class act on this field.”

Cole Palmer stunning season and performance

Palmer’s stunning debut campaign in Chelsea colours is showing no signs of slowing down.

His two goals this weekend now means he’s got 13 goals and eight assists in the Premier League this campaign.

We’re quite astonished by a youngster that’s hit 20+ goals and assists combined in the top division, especially when he’s performing in a mid-table club that so regularly look to him for inspiration.

With still 10 league matches left to play this season, can Palmer get close to 30 G/A?
