Tottenham fixtures compared to Man United and Aston Villa in top four race after Luton victory

Take a look at the next five Tottenham fixtures compared to rivals Manchester United and Aston Villa in the race for top four.

Tottenham regained some momentum in their push for Champions League qualification this season as they beat Luton Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It wasn’t easy though as the Hatters took the lead through Tahith Chong.

Spurs saw plenty of chances come and go before Issa Kabore’s own goal drew them level in the second half. Some neat combination play in the box then allowed Brennan Johnson to tee up Heung-Min Son for the winner.

It was an important victory that has allowed Ange Postecoglou‘s side to keep pace with those in the race for top four. Aston Villa sit three points clear of the Lilywhites following their win over local rivals Wolves, but with an extra game played.

Elsewhere, Manchester United slipped up late in their clash with Brentford, which ended in a 1-1 draw and extends the gap to eight points with the same amount of games played. While fifth place could be enough for Champions League, every team will be eyeing fourth as a guaranteed shot at it.

Our verdict

With the run-in now firmly underway, there’s a whole host of tough games coming up for both Tottenham and Aston Villa. Both teams could end up qualifying through a fifth Champions League place, but fourth will be the aim to guarantee themselves a spot.

The matches look evenly set out, though Villa do have more home games in the next few weeks. As for Manchester United, they have a decent run on paper, however they will need impeccable form and an uptick in performances to get themselves in the conversation for Champions League qualification.
