West Ham have secured an absolute bargain £18 million deal for brilliant 26-year-old - view

It seems as though David Moyes has made a truly brilliant £18 million signing for West Ham United.

West Ham manager David Moyes has got way more transfers right than he’s got wrong since arriving at the London Stadium for the second time back in December 2019.

Everyone involved with the Hammers will be feeling very down indeed this morning after our 4-3 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday.

Moyes made some poor in-game decisions that played a big role in our loss to the Toon, and he admitted that after the match.

With a home clash with Tottenham on the horizon though, it’s about time we all started thinking more positively.

I think there are plenty of things to be excited about as West Ham fans. And one signing that Moyes has made is definitely one of those things…

West Ham boss David Moyes has secured bargain £18 million deal

The Hammers boss has experienced extremely busy summer transfer windows during his time at the London Stadium.

Last summer was no different, as Declan Rice left to join Arsenal and the Scot brought in four new players (five if you include Andy Irving).

The summer before saw Moyes make eight new signings, and this one coming up should see the Scot very active in the transfer window yet again.

One signing he has made looks like truly incredible value for money…

Konstantinos Mavropanos was sensational for the Hammers against Newcastle on Saturday afternoon. It’s just such a shame that his fellow defenders were so poor.

Moyes brought the 26-year-old centre-back to the London Stadium from Stuttgart in the summer for around £18 million (Daily Mail).

He made a slow start to life with West Ham, but has come into his own over the past couple of months. In fact, he’s been so impressive that Inter Milan apparently want to sign him this summer.

This season for the Hammers, Mavropanos has recorded some really impressive defensive numbers, via Who Scored:

  • 1.5 tackles per game
  • 1.5 interceptions per game
  • 4.5 clearances per game

During our defeat to Newcastle, he was one of the standout players for us, aside from our attackers at least:

  • 1 tackle
  • 2 interceptions
  • 6 clearances
  • 2 blocks

The clearance that he made inside the first-half when Alexander Isak was waiting to head home with the goal at his mercy was unbelievably good.

David Moyes has secured a top-class signing for West Ham in the form of Konstantinos Mavropanos. The £18 million fee paid for the Greek ace now looks like an unbelievable bargain.
