Report: Arsenal want to sign 'outstanding' £63m player after Chief Exec hints at potential sale

Arsenal fans are expecting their club to be active this summer regardless of if they win the league and they could well be in the market for a new striker again.

After not landing a new number nine in the January window over fears about FFP, the Gunners are expected to go looking again once the summer window opens.

Mikel Arteta makes no secret about continuing to improve the squad. And a new striker would certainly do that, providing it’s the right man.

With months until the window does actually open, we’ve already seen a host of names linked with a move to Arsenal.

The strikers Arsenal are being linked with ahead of the summer

The Gunners have a number of forwards on their radar, according to numerous different reports in recent months.

Among the star names being linked is Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian is expected to leave Italy this summer and has a host of suitors keen.

Ivan Toney has been linked with a move to The Emirates for some time and he continues to impress for Brentford, while Viktor Gyokeres is flying in Portugal and has admirers at Arsenal.

And, according to reports from the Daily Mail today, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak is also back on Arsenal’s wishlist, with a hint from the club suggesting he might be available.

Arsenal could have chance to sign Alexander Isak

According to the Mail’s report, Arsenal are still very much keen on Swedish star Isak.

The £63m forward hit his 18th goal at the season at the weekend and Eddie Howe lauded him as outstanding, insisting he’s no interest in seeing Isak leave.

However, Newcastle CEO Darren Eales has recently said that every player has their price in the modern game.

“If we’re going to get to where we want to get to, at times it is necessary to trade your players. It is counter-intuitive and part of the inherent system of PSR that there is an incentive to trade your players, if you want to re-invest,” Eales said, before replying ‘correct’ when pressed on if that meant every player had their price.

Arsenal, then could well find themselves with a window of opportunity to land a player they’ve admired for some time now.

Newcastle do not want or intend to sell Isak, it must be stated. However, with Arsenal in the Champions League again and Isak clearly a man of huge talent, this one might linger on for some time yet.
