Report: Tottenham in four-way Premier League battle to sign 'excellent' winger; he's an 'assist machine'

Tottenham are ready to splash some cash this summer and could now battle Everton, Newcastle and Brighton to sign one player from Serie A.

Ange Postecoglou has impressed in his first season in charge of the club and Daniel Levy is now set to back his man for a big summer ahead.

Postecoglou has been keen to keep improving his squad. He added new faces in January, with the likes of Timo Werner, Radu Dragusin and Lucas Bergvall all signing.

However, more will be needed if Tottenham are to sustain a proper title push next season.

And according to reports from Italy, Spurs are in a four-way battle with some Premier League rivals to sign one of Serie A’s top young players.

Tottenham looking to sign ‘assist machine’ from Italy

With Tottenham playing such an open and expansive style of football under Postecoglou, having wingers who can get at defenders and create is vital.

We’ve seen it this season with the likes of Brennan Johnson and Heung-Min Son producing, while Timo Werner has done a similar job since signing as well.

But it looks like Postecoglou wants even more in terms of threats from wide areas.

And according to TuttoJuve, Juventus winger Samuel Illing-Junior is among the players Tottenham now want to sign.

It’s claimed that Illing-Junior will be on the move this summer and four teams in England, including Spurs, Everton and Newcastle, want to sign him.

The report claims a fee of just £13m will be needed to sign the England under-21 star, who is apparently keen to explore a move to the Premier League.

Samuel Illing-Junior is a big talent

The current England under-21 set up has some brilliant young players coming through and Illing-Junior is one of them.

Having already got himself into the picture at a club like Juventus, the sky is the limit really if he can keep his head down and find the right club next.

Lauded as an‘assist machine’ in a report from TNT Sports, the ‘excellent‘ Illing-Junior would definitely give Tottenham another edge in attack.

And at just £13m, it’s hardly a huge risk for a club with spending power like Spurs this summer.
