'I don't see it working': Chris Sutton predicts who'll win between Tottenham and Luton today

Tottenham Hotspur will hope to reignite their Premier League top-four hopes when they host Luton Town in north London on Saturday.

For the second time in just a few weeks, Spurs have had to wait quite a while to get the chance to make amends for a disappointing defeat.

After Tottenham lost to Wolves, the following fixture was rescheduled as Chelsea were in Carabao Cup action.

And following Spurs’ dismal loss to Fulham, the international break put a halt to domestic action for nearly two weeks.

Now, Tottenham can finally get back to business, and up next is a Luton outfit that has been battling bravely in pursuit of Premier League survival.

Who has Chris Sutton backed to win between Tottenham and Luton?

Chris Sutton has been previewing and predicting each and every Premier League fixture this season on BBC Sport. Here is what he’s had to say about Tottenham v Luton.

The pundit reckons Spurs will not make such hard work of the fixture this time, as was the case back in October at Kenilworth Road, tipping

Sutton says Luton would be “very brave” to attempt to go toe to toe with Tottenham, something which worked against Newcastle, but doesn’t think it’ll work this time.

“I remember watching Tottenham play at Kenilworth Road in October when they should have been out of sight after the first 10 minutes, but still ended up nicking the points after Yves Bissouma was sent off before half-time,” wrote Sutton.

“I’m not expecting Spurs to make such hard work of this game, and we should see a response from them after their heavy defeat against Fulham.

“I admire Luton, and I am a fan of their approach under manager Rob Edwards. They are more expansive than they were at the start of the season, and I understand why, but maybe it is time for them to play with a bit more balance.

“If Luton go to Tottenham and go toe-to-toe with Ange Postecoglou’s side, that is very brave. It paid off when they went to Newcastle, and nearly won but I don’t see it working again here.”

TBR writer’s prediction for Tottenham v Luton

It’s hard to look past Sutton’s prediction. Spurs are a very strong side on paper, they haven’t got many fitness concerns, they’ll be playing at home, and they’ll have a point to prove after the Fulham loss last time out.

Meanwhile, Luton are winning plaudits for their style of play as well as their attitude, which has culminated in them being the best out of the three promoted teams, despite many tipping them to be the worst.

However, there’s a huge gulf in quality between Tottenham and Luton, and that quality is likely to show on Saturday in north London. I reckon it’ll be a 2-0 win for Spurs.
