"Unbelievable"... Harry Maguire says academy graduate gave him one of his best Man Utd moments so far

Harry Maguire officially hit 200 appearances in a Manchester United shirt after the Brentford fixture at the weekend.

The England international entered the frame in the second half for the injured Raphael Varane and was actually one of Manchester United‘s better players.

Such as he’s been all season. Maguire has been one of Erik ten Hag‘s more consistent performers when on the pitch.

He’s now had four and a half seasons with the Red Devils – which he reflected on in a recent interview.

Harry Maguire’s reflects on his Manchester United career so far

The 31-year-old joined from Leicester City back in the summer of 2019 for a whopping £80m and has had a varied few years at Old Trafford.

It was against Chelsea, a club that also sought after Harry’s signature when he made his debut. Maguire told club media:

“[I] signed not many days before the first game of the season, [and] obviously got put straight into the team,” he recalled.

“It was a great occasion, playing at Old Trafford in front of the fans. It was a sunny day against Chelsea and to get the 4-0 victory on my debut is something I’ll never forget.

“It was a moment with all my friends and family in the stand and a really proud day for myself.

“The pressure of the opening day of the season is always the one, as players, you feel the most nervous in a season. You’ve had that period of off-season and to go out there [on] my debut, [at] Old Trafford [in that] atmosphere was unbelievable.”

What is Harry Maguire’s best Manchester United moment?

Over the four and a half years, there have certainly been some memorable moments for Maguire. He was club captain and lifted the Carabao Cup – but it’s one game that sticks out to him the most as his “biggest highlight.”

He identified Scott McTominay‘s derby goal in March 2020 as his first best moment, along with lifting the Carabao Cup trophy in 2023.

“Playing in the Manchester derby, the one at Old Trafford before Covid was an unbelievable atmosphere,” he said.

“Probably one of the best I’ve played in, where Scotty scores in the last minute. Obviously, lifting the Carabao Cup as well was a huge moment for me.”

The academy graduate gifted Maguire his Red Devils’ top highlight so far. Let’s hope for many more from both Scott and Harry before they leave Manchester!
